Many people love coming to the islands to enjoy a luau but, there are so many to choose from. Every luau is fun and every luau is different. Luau Aulii offers something very special to you and that is, you're beachside! This is Kauai's only beachfront luau.
I had the privilege of joining my cousin and checking out what Luau Aulii was all about. There was one other fact about this luau that had me excited and that was, my favorite dancer Mi Nei Oliver-Martins is the choreographer and director. Yes, I am a fan. Not only do I think she is a great dancer but, the stats prove it as she is a 27 times 1st place winner as well as the only American to receive a diploma from the Tahitian Dance School in Tahiti. She is a great teacher and it shows in all of the dancers that perform in her show. It would be too difficult to explain how wonderful the entertainment is so you'll just have to come by and see it with your own eyes.
Moving on to the food! Sometimes people say it shamefully when pointing out that you may only go to an event for the food. In this case, you have every right to! The food was fantastic! We started off with pupus (appetizers) and I nearly got full off of all the pipi kaula (cured beef) I piled on my plate. Thank goodness I had room for the entrees because I personally enjoy good laulau (Salted pork, luau leaf stuffed & steamed in ti leaf). Lastly, they pulled out the dessert table and I nearly grabbed everything. Something I suggest you try is the haupia (coconut pudding) and rice pudding. I'll admit I made my way back to the dessert table for those.
